Open Channel Flow Meter consists of a radar velocity meter and a radar water level gauge. Utilizing non-contact radar technology, it calculates flow rate by acquiring data on flow velocity, water level, and cross-sectional geometry; it is primarily employed for flow monitoring in hydraulic engineering projects, including rivers and reservoirs.
Open Channel Flow Meter is a flow measurement device based on radar technology. Its core components—the radar velocity meter and radar water level gauge—leverage the advantages of non-contact measurement to find widespread application in various open-channel flow monitoring scenarios. During operation, the radar velocity meter emits radar waves and receives signals reflected from the fluid's surface to precisely capture surface flow velocity; a specialized model is then applied to calculate the average flow velocity across the wetted cross-section.
Concurrently, the radar water level gauge synchronously acquires water level data for the open channel. By integrating this data with pre-configured cross-sectional parameters, the system performs calculations to ultimately determine the actual flow rate within the channel. The entire measurement process requires no direct physical contact with the fluid, thereby effectively preventing wear and tear on the equipment caused by debris or corrosive substances in the water. This approach reduces installation and maintenance costs while ensuring adaptability to a wide range of complex water quality environments.
This device is primarily deployed in hydraulic engineering projects—such as rivers, reservoirs, and irrigation districts—to enable the real-time monitoring and transmission of flow data. It provides accurate data support for critical operations such as water resource dispatch, water resource management, and flood and drought control. Whether monitoring flow in natural rivers or quantifying flow in artificial channels and pipelines, Open Channel Flow Meter performs reliably and consistently, meeting the measurement requirements of diverse operational scenarios.
Characterized by high measurement accuracy and rapid response times, the device remains impervious to interference from factors such as weather conditions or water flow fluctuations, ensuring continuous and stable operation even in harsh environments. Compared to traditional contact-based flow measurement devices, Open Channel Flow Meter offers convenient installation; it requires no structural modification to the channel itself, allowing for rapid deployment and immediate operational use. As a pivotal component in the digitalization of hydraulic infrastructure, this device facilitates the intelligent management of water resources, enhances the efficiency of hydraulic engineering operations and maintenance, and provides a robust safeguard for the rational utilization of water resources and the mitigation of water-related disasters.
