What happens when weather sensors are plugged into the Sea Ranch?
What is a sea ranch?
Within a selected sea area, through the establishment of comprehensive fishery facilities and management processes (e.g., large-scale marine organism hatchery bases, massive installation of artificial reefs, introduction of automated feeding systems, and adoption of modern fish management techniques, etc.), it gives full play to the natural ecological advantages of the ocean and concentrates on farming and cultivating marine organisms with rich economic value, such as fishes, shrimps, and shellfishes, to form an orderly, large-scale marine aquaculture base.
In order to ensure the smooth operation and effective control of the progress of sea ranching, more accurate and real-time meteorological data support is needed. However, the distribution limitation and distance problem of the existing meteorological observation points in the sea may lead to the deviation of the acquired data from the meteorological conditions of the actual operation area, thus affecting the accuracy of the operation arrangement and decision-making. Therefore, it is necessary to deploy mobile weather stations nearby, which can monitor key meteorological parameters such as wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, air pressure and so on in real time, providing more real-time meteorological data for on-site operations.
And the Ocean Ranch Meteorological Observation System provides a number of meteorological information including wind speed, wind direction, temperature, air pressure, humidity and rainfall by connecting meteorological sensors. These data are uploaded to the cloud server in real time for processing and analysis, which strengthens the ability to monitor the climate environment of the sea ranch. Ranch managers can grasp the ecological environment data of the marine ranch in real time through the web platform or mobile phone application, and obtain early warning of ecological disasters, such as low oxygen or red tide events, so as to effectively improve disaster prevention and mitigation, and reduce economic losses.
Such meteorological information is extremely important for government regulation, marine resource management and public understanding of environmental conditions, and also provides important data support for the sustainable development of coastal tourism and aquaculture, with far-reaching social and economic impacts.
