This type of instrument is suitable for scenarios with long straight-line propagation distances, such as highways. However, the measurement results of transmission visibility meters are affected by factors such as atmospheric humidity, particle concentration and particle size. A scattering visibility meter is one in which the transmitter and receiver are mounted at the same location and the visibility is calculated by measuring the intensity of the scattered light. This type of instrument is suitable for measurements over shorter distances, such as airport runways. Measurement results of scattered visibility meters are mainly affected by atmospheric humidity and particulate matter concentration. Overall, transmission and scattering visibility meters have their own advantages and disadvantages, and you need to choose the right instrument according to the specific application scenario.
